Three years later. I just completed my last work assignment, so now I've got the time but we don't have the money. Right? But we've been saving up since our last trip so we could do this again.
We've gone back and forth over the past few months trying to figure out how far our savings would take us. Regretfully, they won't get us all the way to the east coast again. I have no income so we can't afford to go over budget this time. So, we decided to take 3 weeks to get to Tracy's in Arkansas, and to take the time to explore some of the places we've always wanted to see on our way out there.
First stop will be Carol's to spend Labor Day weekend with her, mom and Skip. The day after Labor Day, we'll head to Prineville, OR for a couple days and a night; then see some sights in Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado. That's as far as it's been planned out, to my knowledge.
Thankfully, my attitude this time around is much more serene. I can't say I'm EXCITED, exactly, but I'm not dreading it. OK, maybe I AM a little bit excited. We'll be going to Arkansas to welcome another grandbaby, but we'll be leaving a grandbaby to do so! We get to see our daughter and her family, but will be leaving our son and his family, and our other two daughters and their families, as well as mom, sisters and brothers and extended family and friends. Mixed feelings, to be sure.
It's also hard to say 'good-by' to our animals every time. This time especially, as our good-by to our beloved Mia will be permanent. At 14 1/2 yrs old, the poor girl is deaf and we fear would do poorly being relocated in our absence. Booger, the cat, will be easier to place. Still, we will miss them both.
I hope to keep interested readers up-to-date on our travel adventures and location, thereby vicariously having many of you travel with us! So the purpose of this blog is to just get set up. Enjoy!
